Packaged lumber loads for 73 ft centerbeam flat cars
On the projects page I will exhibit whatever my latest N scale
project may be. Many of these projects may be related to
progress on the layout or modules, others are just something that I just felt like
doing. This page
will default to the latest project. To see past projects use the pull down list.

I've been building up a modern freight train to run on the Ntrak layouts and have
picked up a few
Red Caboose 73 ft centerbeam flat cars. This type of car is common in the consists
of UP freights
moving through my area. South bounds have loads and north bounds have empties.
I was looking
at some of the N scale load kits that are available for this type of car and thought I
might try to
create the loads on my computer and print them myself.

The logos were captured images from the internet then pasted into drawings done on
Microsoft Visio.
This first one I did had 9 stacks of 4ft wide x 8 ft long material stacked 5 high.
The printed load was
glued to a block of wood which I had cut on the table saw to the correct side.
On the second attempt I printed random length packages stacked 3 high and also added
the tie down
straps that would be used to secure the stacks.
