| While
just about anything goes in terms of scenery on the modules, we strive to unify our
layouts appearance by using a standard paint color for the modules and by using a standard
curtain around the bottom covering the module legs. After setting up and operating layouts for a while we have adapted and evolved our modules, support equipment, operations, and techniques to keep the setups easy and reliable. |
|
| Curtains We have always used some form of skirting to cover the legs of the modules. Dark greens have been the color we felt looked best. For about 10 years we used a fabric that was in 100 ft rolls and map pins to attach this to the front of the modules. More recently we purchased a set of custom made 20 ft & 10 ft sections that use Velcro to attach to the fronts of the modules. |

| Crowd
barriers We have always found it necessary to set up a rope barrier 2 ft out from the front edge of the layout. This helps to keep young hands from touching the many details we have on our modules and also allows a clear area for club members to access the tracks in case of any track or equipment problems. The rope sections are in 20 ft and 10 ft length and are easily connected to the poles with hooks as shown in the photo. |

| We recently had this large 2 sided vinyl banner made with the clubs logo on it. The frame is made from PVC sprinkler pipe and the whole thing can be set up in a few minutes. | ![]() |
