History

August 1991:

Peninsula Ntrak MRRC is formed by a group of N scale model railroaders as a California  non-profit corporation.  The name Peninsula refers to both the San Francisco and  Monterey peninsulas in northern California.

August 1992:

The first of the "Light weight" type modules are assembled at one of our group module building sessions.   Along with this new module design, we adopt the AMP series 1 connector as the electrical connector used between each pair of these modules.   By 1999 over 130 linear feet of this style of module will be built.

December 1992:

Using 2 inside corners, the club sets up a double diamond shaped layout with a total linear footage of 140 feet at the Great American Train show being held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds,

May 1993:

Participation as a group at the NMRA Pacific Coast Region's Sierra Silver Rails convention  in Reno,  Nevada.  Together with other Ntrak members our modules form a large part of the show's Ntrak layout.

July 1994:

At the Great American Train Show in San Mateo Peninsula Ntrak is one of the first Ntrak clubs to use DCC on a Ntrak layout.  Using both yards, we operate opposing meets on the yellow line.

August 1994:

Participation as a group in the N-West convention Ntrak layout and the Large Ntrak layout at the National  Train Show in Portland, Oregon.  Alan Williams is layout coordinator for both layouts.  Most members fly  to Portland, which is 700 miles north of San Jose so the club rents a U-Haul trailer to carry all club and  most member modules.  Two of the members making the drive tow the trailer.  This worked out well  enough that the club sets the goal of acquiring it's own trailer.

February 1995:

Gene Rutledge and the Fresno Engineers MRRC donate a 5ft x 8ft enclosed trailer to Peninsula Ntrak and after getting some work done on the trailer, it was put in to use as a way to store all the club's equipment in one location and transport it to each of our events.

August 1996:

Most of the members attend the N-West convention and National Train Show in Long Beach, California.  Glen Karcher's new Altamonte Pass module set is awarded the best of show award at the N-West convention Ntrak layout and the Con-Cor award at the National Train Show Ntrak Layout.

June 1997:

A new patch design is selected.

September 1999:

Club members vote to become a 100% Ntrak member club and to adopt the Amp series 1 connector as a new club electrical standard.   Club and member modules to be converted gradually as the Cinch Jones connectors wear out and adapters between AMP and Cinch Jones to be maintained to provide interface with other Ntrak modules.

August 2000:

December 2002:

We do our first layout for GATS at the Marin Center in San Rafel.  Although it's a long drive for most of the members,  those who did attend were rewarded with a great show, lot's of running time.
Oh yeah, we also got another 1st place !

Returning to the Cow Palace with a 44 ft x 30 ft layout, we try out our new lift gate.  We also set up a new large banner for the first time.
